If you could plant a seed and grow ANYTHING in the whole wide world that you wanted, what kind of seeds would you plant?  Would you plant a seed that would grow into a new house?  I’d love to plant a seed that grew into a money tree.  What if I told you can start sowing the seeds for your future today.

One of the principles of the Law of Attraction is that “like attracts like”.  If you are putting out good vibes into the universe, you will in turn set the universe humming on your same wavelength.  The same goes for sending out bad vibes. Think of yourself as a radio tower.  You, the radio tower, if you are a good radio tower then good radio stations are going to flow out of you.  People are going to tune into your station and you will attract joy, happiness, and peace.  But, if you are thinking negative thoughts, then negative emotions are going to flow out of you.  Sending out that radio signal is going to make those tuning in to your radio station feel…bleh.

Now, how does that compare to the Bible and the “Law of Faith”?

Matthew 12:34-35, “You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.  A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”

Mark 7:20-23, He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Basically, what you put in is what comes out.  I think that this is why it’s important to give yourself some self-love.  Pay attention to the thoughts you are thinking.  Are they anywhere on the evil thoughts list of Mark 7:20-23?  If you aren’t on a positive vibe, you may need to do a self-assessment, figure out what your heart is full of.   There are a few things that I have learned will give me a pick-me-up, and I have also learned that neglecting these things will put me in a deep dark funk!  Here’s how I get my radio signal set on a good station:

  1. First, and most importantly, I have to spend some time with God, even if it’s just a few minutes a day, singing praise and worship, or praying, or reading my Bible. I NEED that time. I feel lost, distanced from myself, grouchy when I don’t feed my spirit.
  2. I have another trick up my sleeve. I recently went through YouTube and made a lot of different playlists.  They are all about 20-30 minutes long.  On each playlist, I carefully selected two praise and worship songs, two or more motivational video clips, and usually a prayer at the end of each playlist.  My motivational video clips consist of a lot of sermon snippets from pastors such as; TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Steven Furtick, and Joyce Meyers.  I like to make my playlists fit a theme, for instance, I have a Beautiful Playlist for when I’m in need of some self-assurance.  I pick a playlist, put the earbuds in, and walk until the playlist stops.  By the end of my workout, my body is energized and my mind is in a good place.  And, if I don’t have time to work-out, I will often listen to a playlist while I get ready for work in the morning.  It puts my brain in a positive momentum for the day ahead.

The Law of Attraction uses a great tool for putting good thoughts in your mind, so that good things come out.  That tool is positive affirmations.  You focus on a phrase or thought that puts things into a good light.  You meditate not on the current trial you are facing, but on the positive outcome.  I actually really like this idea.  I’ve made a few affirmations, along with Bible verses that coincide with these affirmations.  Print them out and put them up somewhere you will see them often and reflect on these affirmations.  Hang them from your rear-view mirror in your car, or put them in a frame and hang them up around your house.  Search out your own affirmations, something that you can relate to.

Let’s go a little more in depth with Matthew 7:17-20, “Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

Wow…If you are a good tree then good fruit flows grows from you, but a tree that does not grow good fruit is useless because it isn’t feeding anyone, and it will eventually be brought to ruin.  When you see the seriousness of this principle in that statement, doesn’t it make you want to ensure that you are producing good fruit?

How do you know what kind of fruit you will produce?  The answer is in what you are planting.

The Bible teaches that you reap what you sow.  Galatians 6:7, Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

What a precious gift to receive in return for sowing good seed, eternal life!  Yes, Lord, I want to live my life to please you.  THAT is the most important thing.  THAT is the source and substance of all good things.

What kind of good seeds do you want to sow?  What kind of fruit do you want to bear?  What kind of radio signal do you want to send out?

I get it.  You may be wondering what that even means.  How do I sow good seed?

  1. Do something good for someone else, without expecting to get anything back in return. You will feel so good about yourself, and you will touch someone else’s life as well.
  2. Finally, practice gratitude. We’ll go more in depth on this one in our next post.  But, for now, just work on waking up and thanking God for anything you can think of no matter how big or small.  And, thank others with genuine sincerity at every opportunity.

This week’s assignment is:

  1. 1.Get to know the SOURCE.  Spend a few minutes every day reading the Bible, praying, praising.  Feed your faith.  Put the right things in your heart, so the right things will flow out of you.
  2. Think of something you would like to reap, and focus your thoughts on sowing that which you would like to reap.  Keep it simple this week, for example, Lord, I want to have good and loving friends in my life, so I’m going to work on being a good and loving friend. That is what I want to focus my thoughts and energy on, that is the radio signal I’m going to send out.
  3. Pay attention to your thoughts.  If your mind tries to wander to negativity, choose to focus on positive things instead.  Keep a tight rein on your mind.  You might want to find a positive way to unwind and love yourself in order to make this easier on hard days.  For instance, have a nice, relaxing bath, or a hot cup of tea, or make a positive playlist and workout.
